Hi again! I’m back with another sewing post, this time I created a bag just for the fun of it! Here is my borough process when creating this look:

Normally when I make tote bags, it’s your usual square shaped tote with the brand name heat pressed on there. But this time I decided to try something different, and create something I’ve been longing to do : side panels !!!
I have this vision to make a tote bag with side panels kind of like the Christian Dior tote that everyone was wearing 2 years ago, but with my own twist to it. I usually two different colors for this look : army green and taupe. The process was easy, you first measure out how long you want your bag to be and how wide. Normally I already have it written down either on a piece of paper or screenshot and saved in my photos. This time I used my photos; once I got the measurements down I then cut the pieces of fabric (remember to cut on the fold for the base). For the side panels I measured the length of the tote, and the width and cut two panels out for each side.

For the straps of the tote I measure how long I want them to be, pin the length to see how it looks in the mirror, if I’m pleased with it I let it be and if not I go back in and cut a couple more inches off before sewing them in place.

From there I sewed the side panels on the base and of course sewed the handles together on the tote. finally heat pressed the brand name on there and voilà! I hope you like the finished result in the first photo and the measurements I took in the second and third photo!!
