Arctic City
Svalbard, Norway is the nearest city located to the north-pole. Impressive aurora lights paint the dark skies at night everyday without a fail. How can we attract more visitors to take a gander at this natural phenomenon?
Inspiration
Searching for inspiration that can emphasize on the aurora lights' colors or flow. I had two design directions I could go for - flow or structured
Sketches
Deciding on which design direction I could go for, I drafted several sketches to experiment with layouts of body text, graphics, and title head.
Experimentation
Typeface
Title in Bjorn and Body text in Neue Haas Grotesk. Both are straight and rigid, with Bjorn's sharp edges resembling of ice tips.
Curating
Moving the vectors into Photoshop, I was able to add gradients of colors and create a motion-blurred effect from the top to the bottom. With each layer of shapes ascending to the top and descending to the bottom, it becomes increasingly blurred. Additionally, this poster will be following a four column layout for structure.
Using vibrant colors to appeal to passer-bys, the poster draws attention to 'SVALBARD' the aurora city of Norway.
