Cold Water Canoe is a Canada, Ottawa based outrigger equipment seller, they work with Ozone Outrigger and distribute outrigger canoes, sufskis and paddles from brands such as Kai Wa’a, Mike Giblin Canoes, Puakea Designs and Palafamala.
After rebranding their logo, next we moved forward to designing their website. We needed to create a unique website in which the brands designers are introduced and the products are catalogued. But also this website is a platform where Canadian outriggers can go to find classes, groups, races, repair shops, and details about professionals. So it was to be not only a product based website but also a place where the outrigger community in Canada could go to.
The aim was to create an atmospheric and user friendly website for Cold Water Canoe that is both informative and also has a sense of closeness, adventure and nature. In the homepage we have a
slider banner which shows different outriggers from different brands. We used images that were taken
by the Cold Water Canoe paddlers in Canada. By using these images we give the presence of Canada
to the user instantly. Afterwards we have sections for each designer, in which we used quotes either told by them selves or have been spoken about them to give a sense of closeness with the user. Because this site was not meant for e-commerce but more for the user to view the products as catalogues the site needed to be eye catchy yet legible. We designed a website that is modern and energetic - reflecting the outrigger character but also clean and user friendly so that the user can find what they need and easily read the content.
