Blossom – Eating disorder app – case study

 ● About the project

As a competitor of artistic sports, I wanted to face the problems of the sports environment that relate to eating disorders.

→ For female athletes in aesthetic sports such as gymnastics, figure skating, cheerleading, swimming, and dance, 41.5% reported disordered eating.

→ Female athletes in aesthetic sports who engaged in disordered eating were eight times more likely to get injured than their peers who did not engage in disordered eating.

The main goal of the project is to focus attention on eating disorders in athletes and women not involved in competitive sports.

Why Blossom?
● The problem

The National Eating Disorders Association cites that 20 million women and 10 million men will have an eating disorder during their lifetime.Eating disorders have a negative impact on physical health as well as psychosocial functioning. Women have 1.75-3 times as high lifetime prevalence for anorexia, bulimia, or BED as compared to men. Often the sick are not able to cope with the problem on their own and do not have access to professional medical care and specialist support.
More information can be found here.

● The solution

In response to the problem, a project is created available to all those in need, which will be the equivalent of a support group, a place of self-help and a point where you can get professional help.
