Joost Schmidt Exhibition

Joost Schmidt was a designer and teacher at the Bauhaus of Weimar, where he guided his students through the laws of drawing but also typography. On this last subject he teached how to build types using simple shapes, like the square, the circle and the rectangle, and those rules he created to simplify the understanding of type, were the ones that inspired the visual identity of this exhibition.
The colors were chosen following his trademark posters, his most famous design pieces.
The mupis. Switching the colors was the solution, made not to tire the viewer's eyes of always seeing the same colors in the same order

The last is a promotional object. The idea of a keychain or a pen as the promotional object for this exhibition seemed pratical, yet boring. This is a wood game, resembling the shapes used and created for this visual identity. The idea is to make the young play with the endless creations that are achievable using simple shapes. Children are the future students, and it's never too late to teach them about what design really is, creating.
