After becoming an LSU cheerleader and captain of the purple squad, I began to work with the Athletic Department as an intern. My responisbilities included assitsting the LSU Spirit Coordinator in and out the office, working promotions on and off campus, promoting LSU spirit squads in a positive light and much more. Me and a few other members of the team were put in charge of running the Facebook and Twitter accounts and kept them updated daily. I was also aked by our sponsor to create insperational images and hype videos for the cheerleading team as they prepared for the 2014 UCA Nationals. The cheerleading team practiced everyday for the competition before, during and after the winter break. It got very tough at times and our choaches felt like the team needed motivation.
The previous year the team came in 7th place and their goal for the upcoming year was to to do better and place higher. By using the hashtag #roadtonationals, we were able to post our progress and interact with other competing shools during our preparation. I created images, such as the one posted below to express how hard the team had been working and the sacrifices they had made to get there. I also created a hype video with the help of a friend for the team. The video includes highlights from throughout the year and was made to inspire everyone to stay focused and to keep working hard.
The Nationals competition began at the end of February and LSU came in 5th place. They met their goal and will be recieving a paid bid to attend and compete at the 2015 UCA Nationals.
