I'll BE YOUR MIRROR
The mural for the festival Stenograffia, Ekaterinburg, Russia.
For me, this artwork was a summary of the ideas of Jacques Lacan and the result of my sudden passion for psychoanalysis.

The mural "I will be your mirror" contains several levels of meanings.
On the first layer is a picture about a close relationship. People look at each other like in a mirror and at the same time create, draw each other. You can read it in the aspect of narcissism - are we really able to see a loved one, or do we only see our reflection in him, combining with our fantasies? On the contrary, it can be interpreted as an ideal merger in which partners create each other in equal parts, becoming a model for each other. I think that as in any real relationship, everything is intertwined here and all interpretations are possible and equal.
On the second layer of meanings - this artwork is devoted to the ideas of the French psychoanalyst and philosopher Jacques Lacan. Jacques Lacan is the founder of the school of structural psychoanalysis and one of my favourite thinkers.
Many people know him for the idea of the Mirror Stage - that stage in a person's life when his Ego is formed. The image of himself is acquired when a child sees himself as Another in the mirror, and he gradually perceives his description from the people around him. Throughout life, we are forced to collect ourselves, identifying with various significant figures, and thus maintain the idea of ourselves as integral personalities.

The idea of the mirror stage is reflected in the work and in the title "I will be your mirror" - it is also a rhyme with the name of the velvet underground song "I will be your mirror", which has a special meaning for me, because in my life there were moments of reflection in a partner and identification with him, while containing a mysterious element of infinite pleasure from losing yourself and at the same time expanding and blurring your boundaries.
