The mural "Kindling" was painted on the pillars of the bridge in Tomsk.
Last summer, the Street Vision festival came out on the streets and raised the Tomsk culture to a new level.
Initially, this sketch was drawn and designed for a cylindrical building next to the women's prison.
Unfortunately, my sketch aroused mixed feelings among the prison management,
and it was decided to make it in another no less colourful place.

So, the double artwork "Kindling" is devoted to the theme of power.
Two female figures are mirrored in each other, each of them is emotionally coloured in its own way. The first is the dark side,
the figure on it is covered with flaming wounds. Our wounds are painful, and sometimes it seems that they burn us through rage, resentment and anger. However, at the same time, this figure translates power, the flame becomes fuel.
The second figure is light, the wounds are still the same, but her pain has already turned into a productive
creative force that gives an opportunity for creation, development and life as such.
Both figures show just two ways to perceive one person.

Society can turn away from especially wounded people, and the person often ceases to believe in himself or herself,
perceiving his/her wounds as a shameful stigma. The main idea, which the artwork illustrates, is that on the other side of creativity,
achievements, successes and victories there is an incredible inner strength of a person, the source of which was once spiritual wounds.
Equally, the bridge relies on both figures, telling that movement is possible exactly where both pain and further transformation are experienced.

The mural couldn't have been realized without the help of Vanya Larionov and the crew of Street Vision Festival,
and I want to thank them very much.
