Snowman Stop-frame Animation

This was a part of my 'moving' project, during the first year of my Extended Diploma in Art and Design.

The aim of this animation was to communicate 'metamorphosis'. So, through my research I came to storyboard snowmen morphing from snow, followed by the creation of snow-children, to the sun coming through the clouds and melting the snowmen into puddles.

I looked at many different examples of stop-frame animation such as Pingu, Wallace & Gromit, and The Herb Garden. I've always had a keen interest in stop-frame animation, so I was thrilled to have this opportunity to experiment with it. I feel that the final result is pretty successful, and I am overall pleased with it. The lighting is the only main thing I can fault. There were a lot of photographs involved but the seamlessness of the animation makes them all worth it.
