In Between Breaths

As an 18-year old girl prepares to leave home, she tries to make peace with her past and reconnect with her mother.
My thesis film uses live action and animation to look at reflection and introspection as tools to navigate family dysfunction and childhood trauma. The film explores visually the distance that can be created within close relationships resulting in an often blurred line between reality and imagination caused by anxiety and suppressed emotions. It also sheds light on forgiveness and acceptance as the first steps to a self healing journey.
