Jackson Studio Thesis Exhibition

Final Installation
Student exhibitions tend to reward seductive imagery, encouraging viewers to take a brief survey of the space in lieu of engaging individual projects. Responding to this trend, we set out to create an intimate, conversational, and content based experience. The result is a field of eighteen counter-weighted black cylinders containing a project display area that is fifteen feet in length within. The counterweight has a light fixture on the end, marking individual projects with zones of light on the floor. Participants are invited to immerse themselves into a single project by lifting the counterweight, lowering the drum and illuminating the interior project surface. Each project space comfortably hosts 2-3 viewers for intimate discussion and review. Project models are displayed on pedestals adjacent to the tubes.
