PANTONE 50 Years of Color Infographic

This was an exercise in information design, having to create a timeline infographic of a chosen topic. Our team chose to work on something near and dear to us: Pantone.

The company put out an infographic of their own for their 50th anniversary. As part of it, they created colour palettes for each decade of their existence: from the 1960s to 2000s. We chose to use that information as a base, as well as their chosen Color of the Year swatches from 2000 to 2014.
What we did was use the colours in each decades palette (in the case below, the 1960s), and assign a swatch sheet to each. We then found a selection of images depicting items from that era in those colours.

The 1990s.
Below are two examples of the print files, 1970s and 1990s. The book itself was done to spec to match an actual Pantone swatch book.
