DGTL, known for their mix of art and music, hosted their festival at the NDSM dockyards for the 2023 season. It was our job to mesmerize the 5000 music lovers with an iconic stage. The industrial surroundings and new identity of DGTL were central in this project.
The stage design system’s components may be separated and recombined. This creates the possibility to alter the work by reconfiguring, adding or removing its components. The stage is flexible in its design and augmentation through the possibility of adding newly designed modules over time.
The journey
To play with the identity of such a big brand as DGTL was risky. In the beginning I put most of my own vision into the design, which was not received kindly by the DGTL team. This was hard to face, but being open for new ideas, things like the modularity emerged, which became the core of the design. For me, the most intriguing aspect of the stage is how little materials we used. It saved us time, money and problems with building it. It was amazing how we created this experience and still keeping it so simple. Sometimes less is more.
This work is not mine. I used it to learn how to build and fill a portfolio. They function as stepping stones for me, things i can do in the next 5 years to come where i want to come.
