The main idea of the narrative was taken from the story The Amazing Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.
I took the theme of the main character's unplanned journey, where she finds herself against her will and desire to get home. The protagonist lives on Mars and accidentally (as a result of a spaceship crash from a meteor shower) finds herself on Earth, inhabited by dinosaurs.
While the spaceship is falling, she manages to contact other aliens and request help. She is told the coordinates of a place on Earth, where she can be taken home. During her way to that place she meets two characters willing to help her and those who try to hinder in every way. The character encounters different obstacles and experiences various emotions, but does not give up and returns home in the end, having an interesting experience.
The story is in progress now..
These are my first sketches of the location of the story.
Here there are a few rough sketches of the main events of the story - protagonist' life on Mars, the accident in space, getting into the jungle, encountering the main villain, getting into the cave, and the path to where she gets home from.
Main characters of the story:
1. Main Villain. The most powerful on the planet. Doesn't like it when someone claims his place. Main irritant is E.T. number two. Along with this, he would be bored without the Alien, as it keeps him toned down.
2. The Martian Girl, called Dorothy. The character is soft, non-conflictive. A dreamer-fancier (I wanted to emphasize this with clothes and accessories). Lives on Mars, where everything is monochromatic and boring, without conflict, tries to grow plants. She wants to decorate the world and make it brighter. I wanted to emphasize her desire for beauty and brightness, her character traits and way of thinking.
3. Planet Dweller. The opposite of the Martian Girl. Malicious, moody. Appearance does not match his character, which is why he was expelled from the pack. He feels unwanted. As a result, he becomes attached to the Martian and can work on his character to such an extent that he is returned to the pack. He can change color and grow in size, which scares predators.
4. Alien Number Two - nicknamed Leo. He came to Earth earlier than the Martian Girl, adapted, learned how to survive in the dinosaur world. If the girl character likes the brightness and novelty of Earth, this one does not, it is annoying for him. As a result he will be able to get used to this world and find a tone and liveliness in his interaction with the dinosaurs. In this character I wanted to emphasize his physical activity - he needs to be light and nimble, flexible, hence his clothes, blending in with his surroundings, and slender figure. Sarcastic, brave, talented in his ability to adapt to circumstances and find in them to benefit himself.
A couple of ideas with the color and light of this scene:
Here is my attempt to depict the beginning of my story in the comic book genre. The comic book takes us to the main character 50 years into the future, where she recalls her adventures in her youth. Then the story goes back in time, showing the heroine flying the ship, getting hit by a meteor shower and having to land on the planet Earth, where dinosaurs reigned at the time.
I made two versions of the cover for the narrative.
The first version combines the two locations of the story with the inscription "Крушение" with the flying ship - from one point (Mars) to another (Earth).
The second version I wanted to make in a minimalistic way, taking as a basis the cause of this adventure - the ship's breakdown.
Final version of the story.
Story frame by frame.
In general, my goal in creating this project is achieved. I wanted to take a theme that I had never done before and try to make it bright and dynamic and colorful. I enjoyed doing this project so much that I regretted finishing it. In contrast to this project, I'd like to make the next one minimalistic, laconic with subdued color scheme.
