Wind Whisper & Breath
Three words that may sound similar among first listen, however each word represents something different and these paintings are how I view their connections and differences.
Each piece is about 16 by 19 by 3 inches. They are made from multiple layers of wood. I started this project by drawing the shapes in adobe illustrator, and then sending it to a laser cutter to be cut. I then used acrylic gouache, gouache, oil pastels and soft pastels and finally mounted the pieces together.
Breath: a person is using a flashlight to light up the nighttime scene. They see in the distance a tree root, but what they don’t see behind them is a large serpent-like creature behind them.
Whisper: a lightning bug is way in the foreground, meanwhile a large hand is stomping down behind it. There is a whisper of the chaos that is about to ensue.
Wind: a view between trees of two people around a fire. Trees kiss in the breeze above them.
