"Donald "C-Note" Hooker is a poet, playwright, painter, musician, and America's most prolific prisoner artist. He is known as the "King of Prison Hip Hop" for his work in the genre, which he uses to address social and political issues facing the incarcerated population.
C-Note was born in Los Angeles in 1965. He began writing poetry at a young age, and was involved in the city's Pop Locking scene. In 1998, he was sentenced to life in prison.
