Brand Story:
The Akron Laces are a club level soccer team based in Akron, Ohio with a focus on community and development. The team’s goal to bring pride and a sense of belonging is displayed passionately through the commonality of shoe laces. In the sport of soccer, it is said to score a goal you must strike with your laces to power the ball with direction. The Akron Laces embody this saying by empowering young athletes to develop their skills in the sport of soccer through directional coaching. Players and coaches showcase their dedication to the team’s core values of development, community, teamwork, and direction by simply lacing up their shoes and putting their best foot forward in the effort to become the tightest knot soccer club around Northeast Ohio.
Logo Construction:
01. Logotype - Laces is a custom built gothic typeface, using an angular grid to mimic the flow of shoe laces.
02. Crest - The encapsulation shape provides security, while also loosely representing Ohio’s state boundaries.
03. Laces - The angular flow of shoelaces are present in the shield, providing a callback to the clubs name.
04. Ball - An angular soccer ball centered in a triangle, this pairing creates a callback to Ohio’s state flag.
05. Acronym - ALSC representing Akron Laces Soccer Club, provides more concise verbiage for club reference.
06. Ball - Deriving from the crest, the shape mimics a historical soccer ball while retaining a modern look.
