Adaptive Reuse of “Panel Buildings”

As part of a research undergraduate practice between WZMH Architects and students Marina Kolomiiets and Olga Golubova of the Kharkiv Academy of Design and Arts, a sociological survey was conducted of 243 residents of the most affected area of Kharkiv - Northern Saltіvka.
Below you will find the attitude of local residents to the neighborhood and the houses where they lived.
Based on this theme, a short film was made with drone footage of damaged buildings, interviews with local residents, and a vision of how to improve the buildings in Northern Saltivka.
This work managed to attract the attention of major sponsors to hold an architectural competition to restore the area affected by Russian aggression against Ukraine.
