Self Identity - Crest & Rubber Stamp

The Process

I wanted to create a personal mark for myself, so after doing some research I've decided to keep it simple by creating a crest with my own lettering. I started by writing my full name with a calligraphy pen, then simplified it down to my initials: S and L. The next step was to connect them in order to create a unit.
Once I found balance between the two letters, I experimented with different pen widths. I chose a thinner one that would make for an airier, more elegant look.
The next step was to drop the file into Illustrator to adjust shape and balance. The idea was to play with the subtle assymetry that differentiates the two initials by slightly curving the terminal on the letter S.
The Result

And here are the two versions I've created:
I've used the crest as a signature element for all my self-promotion pieces, such as my digital portfolio.
Custom Rubber Stamp
I've also ordered custom made rubber stamps, to give back that handmade bespoke character that I had when I first created the lettering.
Below are some of the applications for my stamp, including stationary and gift tags.
I really like how versatile the crest turned out: simple and elegan. And it can be as crisp as I want in a digital format, as well as have the unique grainy look once it's stamped on paper.
