Independent Creative Project Sketches

For my final year of Illustration for the "Independent Creative" we had to create a final project that's up to us. I struggled for a very long time to  decide what I wanted to create because the possibilities were endless but in the end decided the last minute to create a character design bible for a personal project that i've been working on ever since the the start of the year.
I wanted to take inspiration from character reference sheets which were commonly used in animated shows due to it being one of my biggest strengths when it comes to illustration. Below we have some late stage sketches of a character that will appear in the final project.
Below is the old art style I was going to use but quickly scrapped due to how boring it felt to draw like that. Meanwhile the style above is creative, loose and bouncy, I am able to quickly pump the doodles out with the style without any worry about anatomy or confining myself to many drawing rules.
The project had many changes art style wise. The image above is the second art style that's been fully coloured and shaded in with the desired colouring style that I wanted to go for meanwhile the image below conveys a whole different energy due to the darker colours being used within the piece. I wanted my project to be bright and colourful to convey something along the lines of childhood innocence due to the setting of the story I have within my mind.
Below is all the sketch work I have for character designs with the current and final art style for this project. I have no finished work due to a personal tragedy happening within my life making me unable to work out of stress. But I hope to continue this personal project outside of university and make it into it's very own series as a Self-employed artist or as a side project between work.
