'Queer Reading' bookmark set

An eight-piece bookmark set introducing eight theories of "queer reading." The bookmarks are placed inside an envelope sleeve that displays the core questions posed by each theory, facilitating reflection while reading. Deconstructing patriarchy and embracing a diverse gender perspective to understand the deeper implications of the book's content. Upon removing the sleeve, there is an explanation of each theory, including its origin, targeted discourse, and deconstructive approach. The text is concise and meaningful, with a visually flat and clear style, enabling readers to easily engage in critical reading thinking.
Reading is a multifaceted activity that involves absorption, understanding, and reflection. However, many people tend to engage in surface-level reading, focusing only on the literal meaning of the text, without delving into the deeper layers of meaning. "Queer reading," as a reading approach, aims to stimulate critical thinking by exploring texts through the lens of queer theory and a diverse gender perspective.
The inspiration for this design stems from the need to promote and popularize the theory of "queer reading." Traditional theoretical learning can be complex, creating a higher barrier for non-academic or general readers. Furthermore, cultivating critical reading thinking requires time and effort. Therefore, we aim to provide readers with an easy and accessible way to engage with "queer reading." By refining and condensing the theoretical content, along with the quick application prompts on bookmark cards, our goal is to enable more people to gain knowledge and inspiration from "queer reading."
While it is not possible to encapsulate an entire theory in a single phrase, a key question can effectively point to the core of a theory. Therefore, we have chosen bookmarks as the medium for our design, utilising visual aesthetics to present information in an appealing and easily understandable manner. The bookmarks serve not only as markers but also as prompts with guiding questions. Once the reader's interest is piqued, they can remove the sleeve and explore further content on "queer reading," delving deeper into the core of the theory. Our design serves as a stepping stone for introducing and applying "queer reading" and can also serve as a trigger for reflective thinking in actual reading contexts after acquiring relevant knowledge.
