Are We Ready to Go Nuclear?
On the 22nd of March in 2022, the Energy Market Authority (EMA) published a report deeming nuclear energy to be a potential power source for Singapore by 2050.
As this is a big environmental and economical step for the country, I wanted to discover what the general public felt about this huge announcement. With the insights I have gained, I created an infographic poster that highlights the public's thoughts and concerns about the government's plans on utilizing nuclear energy in about 27 years' time.
As a result, I hope that this infographic would serve as an educational resource for anyone.

Development
I did a few quick and loose sketches, with some taking a lighthearted and humorous approach to make up for the seriousness of the topic, but I was advised not to proceed with those as they may come across as insensitive or offensive to some. The middle ground was to go for a more empathetic concept such as the second sketch.
After refining the layout, I experimented with the colour palette. From the comments I have received, I figured that the fifth palette would be the most suitable option. Purple is calming and eases one's mind, which is perfect when paired with a serious topic.
Final Infographic
In the final style of the infographic, I put my own spin of retrofuturism. As many science-fiction films, both old and new, love foreseeing the future of human technological advancement, I implemented this design to bring appeal and relevance to a wider audience.
The typography used for the title is Pirulen. It is a futuristic science-fiction-esque typeface with a wide and rigid form. Because the topic I addressed was scientific, I decided to use this typeface that has a similar energy. I also used the classic typeface Helvetica as the body text for its sleek appearance and great readability.
