In 2019, the Netflix film "Outside the Wire" was filming around Budapest. The film is set in 2036, where a civil war between pro-Russian insurgents and a resistance movement in Ukraine leads the U.S. to deploy peacekeeping forces after a failed U.N Intervention. 

The following pictures were produced with the intent to mimic real conflict photography. The photos served as a props and set decoration in various scenes in the movie, two and a half years before the real Russia invaded the real Ukraine, yet the images carry a haunting, unsettling air about them today. Even though the images were taken in a set with actors and fake guns, the depicted scenes have become all too familiar since February 2022.
