Hailing from Hosur district of krishnagiri in Indian state of Tamilnadu they are virtually cut off from civilized society .Their only means of travel is by walking, When I met them in Palakkad district in Kerala, they had almost travelled 300+ km by foot.

Selvaraj is the grand person and his eight companions are always on the move, looking to find grazing spots for their livestock. These men's take care of livestock throughout the year leading a semi nomadic life while their family stays back at home.

They may stay for a couple of days or a week in a field, it may extend upto a month. The duration of their stay is decided based on weather conditions and grazing opportunities. They always depend on common lands and agricultural land to graze their flocks on after the harvest.

Every year they would come to Palakkad dist. in the month of February and move to other grazing spots in the month of April. Since the local farmers starts to harvest the fields in the month of April so they have move to other spots and agricultural lands.

They had more than 600 goat's, Each person had their own responsibilities to protect the goat and maintain the same and few of them have to go with the goat for supervising while the goats are grazing on a open fields and others stay back in there small cabin to prepare food. They had four dog to protect the folk from wolves and other predators.
