SKIMMING THE WATER. This post, along with many others today, takes a dive into the past, to times when the most exotic place we visited was our living room. Between 2020 and 2022, I designed, sketched, observed, under confidentiality agreements now finally lifted. The infamous COVID years! But every cloud has a silver lining, and ours? It shines brighter than the sun reflecting off a yacht's immaculate deck. During the long COVID months, I explored beyond interiors and exteriors of homes, buildings, and structures, into sleek, futuristic Yachts and Powerboats, born from chaos, in the quiet of quarantine. Sharp exterior lines that slice through the sea (and our boredom) like a hot knife through butter were my focus. I gave special creativity to the waterline decks of innovative mega yachts, because who said social distancing couldn't be stylish? Thanks for joining me on this journey. Always remember, while much talk about style comes from this or that famous Designer driven by houses and brands, we have the greatest artist around us. Nature has already suggested all we need. TECHNICAL INSIGHT. I worked with milled double-deck designs in yachts and powerboats, contrasting surface layers to accentuate deck pattern design, breaking away from classic beam parallelism. Materials used include White Fir, Red Fir, Ash, Iroko, Mahogany, Oak, Teak. TECHNOLOGY The technological advances of recent years have brought significant innovation to the yacht and powerboat industry, including hybrid and electric technology, advanced materials like carbon fiber, gyroscopic stabilizers, advanced navigation and communication systems, luxury comforts, and an emphasis on sustainability. Materials used in high-end nautical industry, like carbon fiber, fiberglass, Kevlar®, and natural-based composites have revolutionized boat and yacht construction.
