The Layered Educator
The Layered Educator is an inclusive and educational piece of playground equipment designed for a public setting. The design is backed by extensive research an historic and current play equipment. The design involves three panels that can be used from either side, this fosters inclusivity in the design and allows the users to individually or collaboratively design images by rotating the blocks to create a display of an image. The educational skills are stimulated by the physical, social and cognitive abilities that have to be applied.
Designed and made as part of a team in the Product Design School at the University of Canterbury, in collaboration with Ahhash Sivasith, Kayla Lane, Lauren Wiley, Connall Breen and Elena Kaltenstadler (2022)
