For the Strength of Parents

For the cover of my booklet I wanted the S in strength to be the focal point and appear to be strong so I chose Egyptian Slate to serve this purpose and used a frame to keep the eye moving from the S to the rest of the word.
This booklet was created as a gift that features a talk about parenthood by Elder Uchtdorf, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I chose a photo of Elder Uchtdorf giving this talk at General Conference for the inside cover as the main focal point on this spread. I also framed the title of the talk in boxes with color in the background in order to create hierarchy on the page.
I used colored boxes to add variety to the inside pages and chose a color theme that I felt represented the sacred mood of the talk.
I used the same shapes and colors to create a uniform flow from page to page but I changed the placement on each spread to create variety and interest.
My first goal was to create hierarchy with the type alone and then I added the shapes and colors add beauty.
This is the last inside spread and I was grateful to have enough room for some negative space. I was not sure if this was going to work out since I was limited to the number of pages and I wanted to break up the talk in sections so that there was one section per page that way if the reader wants to go back to a certain section it will be easy to find.
For the back cover I used a quote that I thought summed up the main point of the talk.
