My friends can't decide if this model looks like Mr. Parker, Mr. Shapera or Mr. Heshka.
My final animation was supposed to be a dancing robot but with me being a total beginner at this, I couldn't finish any 3D model attempts. The robot model was just a bunch of polygons. ( Don't have pictures of it. Lost my files.) I finished that part so I moved on to rigging it.

I found this helpful, beginner friendly seriesof tutorials.
I was halfway through the tutorial when I realize I won't finish anything at all if I continue trying to rig. So panic mode on.

Then I got this rig off creative crash because it was free and had a guide on how to use it.

All I did was animate the model.

After that was batch rendering. Maya won't export a video directly off it (as far as I know) so the animation has to be exported off as a series of images (.png for example)  then put it all together in After Effects.
Took me almost an hour to figure it out.

Project is 22 seconds long. It was supposed to have animared glowy stars while it was dancing but it didn't export out well. You can see it a bit around he old guy as little sparks.

I thought that 3D animation was too awesome to miss out on so even though I never took an animation class before. I've read forum threads that suggests to get a mentor who know the software well because it's hard to learn on your own. I agree with that but I know I could have done more in 4 months of Maya. I'd like to continue learning how to use it during the summer for fun.
Found out that there's a free 3 year one so I might look at that.
