This type of photography is called double exposure and I wanted to try this technique of double exposure portrait  therefore this image was one of my inspirations.

First of all i needed a portrait, I found this one appropriate and really like the photo itself

I also needed another photo, in this case of a landscape to make the double exposure.
This photo was taken by me at the castlewellan park, Northern Ireland.
What brought my attetion for this one was the water I wanted to have a landscape with a lake or something like that.

This was the other photo I used for double exposure, I couldn't resist to use it because I just loved it and thought was just going to fit the theme perfectly.
This photo was taken by me at Lisburn road, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
I didn't use any filters or retouched the photo.

First I putted the portait layer on top and the landscape layers at last.
I selected the background around the head using the magic wand tool and because the hair is not all smooth I had to use the refine edge tool, after everything is selected I used the eraser tool and erased everything around the head.

Then we go to the background layer and do the same step, only on this one I erased the area around the face.

Now to turn this image black and white I used the contrast tool and selected black and white and on the properties of it, select the high contrast blue, and bring the red marker a bit to the right aswell the yellow marker, there is no exact how much to move it, just as much as you wish until it gets the result you want.

So the background won't be plain white I used a very soft gradient.
Select the portrait and inverse the selection by using shift+ctrl+I and select the gradient and drag it  from top to bottom or bottom to top, as you wish.

The to finish the double exposure you go to layers and select lighten and that will be it.

Previously I had cut out randomly the lake photo and all I done was reduce the oppacity of it.
And at the end I placed it on the bottom of my portrait and of course under the black and white layer.
Around the head I just used the blend tool to smooth a little bit around the edge.

This was my outcome and I'm actually very very happy with it, was the first time experimenting with the double exposure and I loved it, love the effect of it, and the photo I came up with at the end is just perfect, it's everything I wanted.
