Luis Pinto: Hispanic Heritage Month

Luis Pinto for Hispanic Heritage Month

Mexican-Guatemalan illustrator Luis Pinto has worked on a handful of collaborations honoring Hispanic Heritage Month this year, which is September 15th - October 15th.

In an interview film created for the Adobe Max Creativity Conference (in which he will be a speaker), Luis discusses his creative process and the inspiration he draws from his community in Guatemala.

Luis collaborated with U.S. Soccer, working with USMNT forward Ricardo Pepi on a design inspired by Pepi's personal experiences and that of many Hispanic Americans. The design will come to life during the USMNT match against Germany on Oct. 14th, and will also be embellished on official U.S. Soccer apparel.

Luis was also commissioned by Target to design a product collection to celebrate the traditional Mexican holiday, Dìa de Muertos. Luis’ designs were transformed into figurines, candles, photo frames, and decor items that can all be used to create an ofrenda – an altar that honors loved ones who have passed.

Last but not least, Luis created a vibrant illustration for the cover of City & State New York's September issue featuring the 2023 Latino Power 100, highlighting rising star New York leaders with Latin American roots.
