Apóstol, located in front of the iconic Santa Lucía park in the Historic Center of the city of Mérida, is a meeting point where craft beer is the main guest. Which has an atmosphere made up of a play of irregular textures, a warm atmosphere and a connection within a historical context. Restoration was carried out inside the property for its recovery and operation as a restaurant. The main approach seeks to reveal and leave evidence of the vestiges within the space, the original floors were preserved and rescued, scraping and carving work was carried out on the perimeter walls, to discover the traces that have been left over time, The wooden doors were recovered and restored, and ironwork windows were integrated to provide a contrast between what is contemporary and what exists within the space. The property is made up of two double-height bays inside that connect with a rear patio. In the first bay the main bar and a diner area are located, in the second you can see a mezzanine loaded by a service block, which connects with the patio and ends with the exposed masonry wall accompanied by vegetation. The materiality of the space was carried out using chukum, organic paste from the region, framing the predominant elements that divide the areas, providing a coexistence with the ancient that is demonstrated by the textures captured in the previously carved perimeter walls. The space is illuminated using galvanized steel pipes to guide the wiring and function as a duality between the past and the present in the skin of the walls.
