Taking technology a step further, the exterior has a perforated metal screen wall that serves as a dramatic electronic LED light display at night, and a south screen that serves as a backdrop for drive-in movies and 3-D projector shows.

The student spaces on the lower level address the goals of the project with a vibrant, youthful color palette and contemporary furnishings that delineate student activity zones including quiet spaces, live performance areas, dining and café areas, and gaming.

For ORU students, a duality between the social and studious exists. A “Living Room” with conversational seating and a fireplace connects with a lounge featuring a mammoth 12’ x 21’ screen for viewing movies, sporting events, and serious video game competitions.

The second floor of the new student center serves as a gathering space for alumni events. A sophisticated and muted color palette and modern furnishings were used for a more grown-up vibe.

More than 16,000 sq. ft. of high-performance reflective glass is used throughout, which lets in as little harsh UV rays as possible. To further push the project’s sustainability, more than 1,000 energy saving LED lights are installed throughout the building.
