Personality Portrait Reflection

For this project inspired by the film “Welcome To Marwencol,” I decided to create a fictional safe place, just as Mark Hogancamp created within his set of Welcome To Marwen. Personally, I am an extreme introvert and from this, created a place where I can fully relax and be comfortable with my surroundings. The set itself is displayed on clouds which indicates that this safe place is up in the air, far away from the world and society. The set is also very fragmented, almost like a dream in that there is only a fragment of a bedroom that sits in the middle of a forest, huge flowers, with the only inhabitants being cats that are seen picnicking around my character, as well as hanging in and around the bedroom space. I chose cats as the inhabitants because I used to foster cats back in high school. My favorite thing to do was observe them for hours and see all their individual personalities. I was also inspired by the cat islands in Japan. My dream is to be able to live in and or see a cat island within my lifetime.
