Ka Shad Suk Mynsiem

Ka Shad suk mynsiem, the "dance of peaceful hearts” takes place in April. It represents the start of fresh seasons and celebrates the hope for the upcoming year. The male dancers are the protectors of the clan as they surround the female dancers armed with their "waitlam" and "symphiah", Ka Ryngkab bad u Kynjri tabah. The necklace "Paila", is worn by both men and women, this is a much recognised piece of the Khasi Jaintia tribe.
The female dancers the maidens - keepers of the hearth and lineage of the clan wear the finest silks and accessorized with silver, coral, and gold jewellery. The crown or "Ka Pangsngiat Theisotti" which means a crown for the pure/virgin is a symbol of respect and decency. The Lasubon flower, a significant totem for the Hynniewtrep clans, symbolises the chastity of the dancer.
