From the group exhibition of the works created during the project "Culture Under Pressure", where we participated in an online workshop series to develop our projects - then showcased our works-in-progress to the public at the "Goethe Zentrum Eriwan" (10/11/23). My project (a sound performance/installation + visual installation), titled «ան.ժամանակ»/"time:less", reflects on the constant oppression of marginalized cultures & how the traditions of the indigenous are overcoming these difficulties. The sound installation is assembled by audio samples of folk music from ethnic groups who have been enduring challenging times: these samples were deconstructed/glitched (within the context of a dystopian, war-torn, crumbling reality and the struggle to embrace our identities amidst the pounding noise of fear, starvation, war & genocide) & layered with etherial ambient soundscapes - the contrast relays the difficulties we encounter in reconnecting with our past & implementing it in the present & future. The corroded clockwork mechanisms & parts are from the Soviet Clock Factory in Yerevan - representing the ruthless fleeting of time & our efforts to conceptualize it. The platform gave me an opportunity to focus on & materialize this idea I had for a long time, and it is far from finished, in fact, it may never be complete, as I intend to continue working on variations of the project.
