Endangered Species T-Shirts: Exploring Screen Printing and Endangered Species
Overview
This projects objective was to generate awareness about the importance of habitat conservation and biodiversity. In a mock collaboration with Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. I created graphics for t-shirts, hangtags, posters and social media post.
Challenge
This project was done in collaboration with real elementary school students. The students chose a species from an endangered species list from Nebraska Game and Parks and we were tasked with creating graphics with those animals. In this case, I worked with the Gray Wolf and the Whooping Crane.
Role
Designer
Applications
Adobe Photoshop
Inspiration
I drew inspiration from minimalist sports graphics and T-shirt designs. The clean lines and simplicity of minimalist graphic design hold a unique appeal for me, elevating the overall aesthetic. I was particularly drawn to shirts featuring understated logos and creatively dispersed words and graphics across the fabric—a style I aimed to emulate in my own designs.
Graphics
I pursued different paths for each design, aiming to delve into an array of styles that complemented the unique traits of each animal. For the wolf, I aimed to spotlight its essence by employing multiple images that converged to showcase intricate details of its face and physique in a close-up portrayal. Conversely, with the crane, I sought to emphasize the bird's flight capability. I centered the design around capturing its graceful motion mid-flight. Additionally, I included a concise snippet of information about the crane to add context and depth to the design.
