It's always winter where I am
But 2am is spring

Ash falls around me like snowflakes
And I burn my fingers from the heat of the filter
My cigarette is a magic wand
Keeping me alight
Keeping me awake

I always want to be somewhere else
But in this moment I know what okay means
I have found happiness
And happiness is a 2am smoke break

I mark 2am on my atlas
A place to visit
4am is when I question everything
A place to avoid

I watch the streetlights
The city lights
A horizon of sunrises
An eclipse of a local joint
A meteor shower of smoke

There are no musings
There is peace

I stay out all night
Starlight reaching me from a million years away
Energy bouncing off me
I smile back at them
Stars
One day I will reach you too

I made friends with four walls
Cages aren't meant for people
But sometimes I don't know how to be a person

I never write poetry that contains joy
I never think about love
But tonight I fell in infatuation with the bones in my body
The wind in my hair
The smoke in my eyes
Beauty is not familiar
But tonight it is home

I am a conductor of creation
Waving my smoke stick
Knowing something moves because I will it
I close one eye and the moon dances
Moon
Make the ocean kiss the boulders
Make the trees whisper secrets lost in city sound

I am so surrounded by gravity
Tonight I stand on two feet
I lie down under a canopy of celestial wandering
I laugh in the emptiness of sound
You're crazy
You're crazy
This is what life feels like
Running through my blood
Racing through my spine
A joyride of existence

I hear nature tweeting
Everyone is waking up
Busy has reached the to do list

I watch the streetlights go out
One by one
More ethereal than any sunset
The gold hues fading into pink atmosphere
Goodbye Sana
See you soon

I'll see you soon
