Portrait Study
Creating portrait artwork involves capturing the essence and personality of a person through visual representation. Whether you’re working with traditional art mediums like pencils, charcoal, pen, or paints, or using digital tool.
I personally thought of experimenting with pen. Using pen I have made 4 portraits but with different techniques used in each.
The first portrait here shows how I tried exploring with the cross hatching technique throughout her portrait.
Cross-hatching is a shading technique where you create a series of intersecting lines to build up value and texture in your artwork. It is also versatile and can be used with various drawing tools like pencils, pens, or ink. It’s a valuable technique for creating depth and texture in your drawings.
The second technique that I have used in the portrait is the stippling method.
Stippling is a technique in which small, distinct dots are used to create shading and texture in a drawing. Stippling is a meticulous technique that requires attention to detail. It’s a great way to create intricate textures and shading in your artwork.
The third technique used in the portrait is the scribbling technique.
Scribbling is a spontaneous and expressive drawing technique where random and overlapping lines create texture, patterns, or even represent form.
There are no strict rules with scribbling. It’s about letting go of control and enjoying the process of creating dynamic and visually engaging artwork.
The fourth portrait is using the blue ball pen where i combined two different techniques. Cross hatching and scribbling both are equally managed and used throughout the artwork.
