I’m experimenting with a new style of vector art and the use of flat planes of colour.
The work is inspired by an illustration titled “Reindeer” by Autumn Whitehurs  for the Daily Telegraph in 2005.

I was immediately taken by the idea of a flat body surface in white. I use my photography for images, and then draw over the different parts by hand. I do not utilise live trace, because I enjoy exercising absolute control over what gets detail and what does not. Unlike in photography, the final image is no longer about skin smoothing, or what the model looks like. The image now expresses the emotion and attitude that I tried to convey in the photo, without the distraction of the model's beauty with perfect, smoothed skin.
