SKATE BOARD PROJECT
Objectives:
You will create two skateboard graphics using any creative tools you'd like. The first part of the assignment will be to think about, investigate, and define the project's theme as a class. We will further discuss these topics in class. You will then begin the design process with the goal of creating designs that will make your personal interpretation of the theme. You will then be responsible for creating a unique way to display your skateboard for the winter art show.
The Design Topic was Decided to be 3D vs. 2D
Goals:
Gain cultural/creative knowledge and perspective with your research
Make good use of time and stay on task
Have good craftsmanship (illustration, building, and mounting of boards)
Be sure to follow the instructions
Be creative, have original thoughts, use your imagination, and be inventive
Gain technical competence and skill with materials and media (digital and hands-on creation and building)
Final Composition:
Use your choice of any combination of tools (Adobe CC, iPad, Cricut Cutter, Laser cutter) to create the final illustration/design
Illustration size determined by the longboard you have chosen
Final presentation and display size is entirely up to you, as long as it fits into a determined space
You will have several rounds of sketches and idea development complete before working on the final design/illustration.
Artist Statement
I made two boards to compare and contrast the ideas of Goodness and Evil. The first board I painted
and designed stickers to portray a beautiful garden to reflect Eden. For the 3D board I zoomed in on the
tree of Life and had deadly sins engraved on the board with a snake weaving in and out of it to portray
evil. I used laser cutting, woodworking, sticker making, and painting to design the boards and complete
my vision. I want others to see the clear contrast between the boards and ideas behind them.

I used Epoxy Resin to Hold the Snake's articulated body
I used a Lazer Printer and a table saw to construct and design the board

I love the way they both turned out considering how many struggles I went through and I think that the message I wanted to get across was seen!
