A Child's Nightmare

A Child's Nightmare
I wanted three posters representing different things a child may have a nightmare about. The first nightmare that comes to mind is 'fear'. I than chose loneliness and stress as I believe they may be more of a nightmare for teenage years but can still effect a young child.
Poster 1: Loneliness
Before I started this poster I knew I wanted someone standing on isometric pillars. While working I ran into some trouble filling in the upper portion of the poster as it was a lot of empty space. The curtain was added to add some depth at the top so it wasn't completely yellow. The text is in a blocky font that almost look like children toys. I also gave the person some balloons to fill in empty space but also make the person look sad as if the loneliness is strongly effecting them. I used bright colors for everything and went with 3d shapes. I also added strong drop shadows on everything.

Poster 2: Overwhelmed
For stress, I switched the word to overwhelmed. I knew I wanted someone in the foreground with many eyes staring at the subject to give a sense of constant watch and judgement. The eyes were done first and came out extremely well. I kept them being very colorful and using 3d similar to the first poster. For the subject, I wanted them to be a silhouette  with the words 'overwhelmed' in the head. The head is also supposed to seem bigger to the hands as if the head is bulging out towards the screen. This is supposed to portray the subject coming out of their head as they are slowly losing their mind from the eyes. There are also some small effect lines above the head to also emphasize the pain the subject is feeling.

Poster 3: Fear
For the third poster, I used the word fear. This was the first word I wanted to do a poster on but I had way too many ideas. For the final poster I went a little off track compared to the others. This poster doesn't have bright, contrasting colors. Neither does it have 3d effects. This poster is supposed to represent my fear as a child. I wanted to incorporate myself into one of these posters and so I chose this one. As a child I have a fear of the ocean and what is hidden beneath it. I hate the feeling of floating over an abyss of unknown and the constant feeling that something can drag you down at any moment. Therefore I added a diver to represent the subject who is floating in the middle of the deep blue. The hand was added to represent the unknown and the understanding that it could just grab you and bring you down and you can't do anything about it. There was than some small lighting added between the subject and hand because the subject was blending into the hand a little too much.
