Colonización Simbiótica
(Symbiotic Colonization)
It is an experimental knitting project in which different knit swatches are designed to create a garment under a concept and moodboard. The design of the piece wonders about the possibilities that knitting has to create eccentric volumes and how the textile adapts to the body.
Oxygen has run out, and humanity can no longer breathe as it used to. Now, people are symbiotic with lichens, fungi embedded in the skin that cause protrusions throughout the body. The fungus feeds on the skin, colonizing the body while humans obtain oxygen from it. Humanity relies solely on lichens to prevent the extinction of the species.
Fungi that roam the earth and the human body, colonizing and invading every centimeter of the territory. Leaving behind sprouts and protrusions as a trace of their bodily journey, altering silhouettes for a symbiosis between nature and the body.
