In one of my foundations classes last semester, I was tasked with connecting at least 100 of one item together with 1 other item. However, for this project the connector could not be anything similar to glue, string, or adhesive. Above is pictured 100 cotton swabs that are connected entirely by a pattern of rubber bands! The design process of this piece was a learning curve, one that included many failure with connection. I had attempted to use nail polish, folding them together, and paper clips in order to group these items together. After none of those ideas landed, I found inspiration when cleaning out a drawer in my dorm room. This is perhaps the most unconventional project I have ever created, but I am happy to say that connecting each and every Q-Tip together without adhesive was successful!
