The Search for Words

This experimental animated short is about my late grandmother’s love for words that in the last

few years of her life, became a search instead.

Words had always been a source of comfort to her, a friend she could rely on. When dementia started taking over her mind, my Nana’s heart broke. It was so terribly hard for her to make sense of words or string a sentence together. She lived in different time zones on certain days and created a make-believe world for herself when home felt foreign. Somedays she wouldn’t recognize my mother as she sat at her bedside,

but somehow, even if it took her a few minutes to place me, she always recognized me.
