Disco Aesthetic, 2024.
Disco Aesthetic' is the starting piece of a series inspired by mid-70s and early 80s post-punk and new wave music, fashion, and culture. Music is often the igniting source of the templates of these collages in my mind, and elements like fashion, objects, and typography unique to this period help build the full experience for the viewer.
With the use of texture and typography, the series aims to evoke a sense of nostalgia even for those who weren't alive in the 80s. Perhaps it is the aesthetic appeal that catches the viewer's attention due to the strategic placement of each image and color, and this interest is maintained by the fantasy that comes with the harmonious experience of music and image.
