The idea behind this project was to visualize the problem and give a voice to the NYC Chinatown community regarding the newly planned jail that is being built on White St. in Chinatown, NYC. The jail is going to take the place of the current Manhattan Detention Complex (known also as ‘The Tombs’) + one more block, and is going to be the tallest jail in the world. This diorama project aims to give a glimpse into what the local community thinks, problems they faces, as well as visually demonstrate the imposing nature of the new jail.
