"ਆਟੇ ਦੀ ਚਿੜੀ" (Aate di chidi)
Through phulkari, this editorial recalls the shared culture of our grandmothers and our childhood. These images depict my grandmother and her essences surrounding me. This is a remembrance of her unseen but felt presence around us. My great great grandmother made the phulkari's used. According to the stories my grandmother used to tell us, as soon as a child was born, the grandmother or mother of the child would sit down and embroidery the phulkari's for the child's marriage. These traditions and emotions were passed down to me by my grandmother, and this is what these images are attempting to convey.
