TETRIS HOUSING | SEMESTER 06 URBAN HOUSING STUDIO

I am thrilled to share my Semester 06: Housing Project, which I had recently completed. Our project began with the evolution of human habitation, from individual spaces to standardized housing, a shift has occurred. Industrialization and mass production have brought efficiency but often at the cost of personalization. This notion delves into the challenge of reconciling the demand for standardized housing with the need for individual adaptation. Looking towards the future, it explores the concept of ‘housing as a process of adaptation’ rather than a static product. As we envision the living spaces of 2035, the focus is on creating sustainable, adaptable infrastructures that can withstand changing demographics and environmental pressures, aiming to minimize carbon footprint and ecological impact.

And this is where I was highly inspired by the retro game- TETRIS, where a set of blocks are stacked upon and more scores are earned. The same idea was converted into the idea of 'housing as a process of adaptation, rather than a static product'; where the aim was to create an individuality among the users where each unit was different from one another. And how does this Tetris Housing emerge to or even tackle the massive population issue by the year 2035.
