I had a bit of an interest in historical musical notation, so when a logo project for the hypothetical "Medieval Music Festival" was assigned, I decided to lean into my fascination. Undertaking writing down your music in medieval times is a bit of graphic design challenge; How do you convey a musical idea with efficient use of space to singers that probably aren't literate or instrumentalists? The approach is a bit of a stripped down version of out modern one, focusing less on exact tone or time signature and more focus given to movement of tone.
The font is the of the same family you might find below your modern music staff, telling you to play forte or mezzo piano. This was in some way to be cohesive to the subject matter but I also played around with the idea of a lowercase version of the logo, the "mmf" mimic mezzo mezzo forte (a dynamics indicator that doesn't really exist)
