The story of The Goblin Queen and the Ladybug Princess unfolded onto the paper yesterday from playing with a rock I found, and kept because it fit so nicely into my palm.
It was meant to be held, that was no question, but later I found out it also works quite well as a pencil. I drew light and quick, then completed them with watercolors, guided by what my imagination saw in the shapes made with the rock.

when I started playing, when I took the rock home, I had no idea of the journey ahead of us together. I found it, I looked at it, then held it. I liked the way it felt in my hands, so I kept it.
It sat on my desk for weeks, I looked at it sometimes.

One day as I was painting, I grabbed it and started scratching the paper with it.
my mind didn't like that, I knew the paper isn't meant to be rubbed off. but I kept going,
and as I tried holding it in different angles, I was in the middle of it all already.
Through the different attempts, I found out, I liked the marks it left the most, when I held it light and moved it fast.

I had a series of rock drawings. My imagination was ignited and the process of highlighting what was already there began. what a journey. I love these images, they are Mine, I see my inner world, my favorite childhood storybook illustrations, and personal iconography.
I couldn´t have made them, with the intention of sitting down and pulling them out of my mind. It had it´s time, place, materials. I needed to hear and see and feel the things that speak to me, and allow them to be. Allow them to surround me, and make room for them, with the only intention of paying attention to them.
